Caribou, called reindeer in Europe, live in the arctic regions of Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Scandinavia and Russia.
There are two varieties of wolves at Parc Oméga: the grey wolf and the arctic wolf. This arctic wolf differentiates itself by its white coat which includes just a few grey hairs.
Smaller that the red fox, the arctic fox has adapted to the polar regions. Indeed, as its legs and muzzle are shorter it better retains its heat.
This survivor of the Ice Age inhabits the arctic regions including Greenland, Siberia and northwestern Canada (Yukon and Territories Northwest). Inuits call it omingmark which means “animal with a fur as a beard”.
